A URL slug is the last part of the web address that serves as a unique identifier of the page: for instance /slugify/ for this page. Since most CMSs are configured to automatically generate these for you, we tend to use this tool for naming images so that they are descriptive for us, search engines and those using assistive technologies, such as screen readers for the blind or partially sighted.
